Bayern jubilate Champions League win

It was no other team than the Bavarians.

Bayern Munich after the 8-2 demolition of Barcelona were tipped as the team to win the Champions League in the 2019/20 season and they delivered on Sunday night

The German team are treble winners again as they claimed their sixth European trophy, denying Paris Saint Germain their first since its inception.

Kinsley Coman’s well-placed header proved decisive against his former club in the 59-minute.

It was a disappointing game for Neymar, who made his 60th appearance for the French side five years after he won the trophy with Barcelona.

The Brazilian was barred from making a meaning full impact in the game following the few opportunities his side wasted in the first half of the game. Both Mbappe and Neymar missed chances players of their value should have converted at their level.

The young Frenchman looked most dangerous as he moved into some dangerous positions out on the left, with Leandro Paredes picking him out at every opportunity.

PSG’s clear opportunity was presented on the 44-minute after Mbappe nipped in and faked to shoot from 20 yards but rolled one in for Herrera. He did brilliantly to pick out a pass back to Mbappe who was only 10 yards out but his strike ended up straight at Neuer.

The deadlock was broken in the 59-minute when Bayern injected some pace into midfield and got Kimmich into a good position on the right. The winger had four teammates to aim at and found Coman unmarked at the back post. He had time to steady himself and sent a powerful downward header into the bottom corner.

The goal was Bayern’s 500th UEFA Champions League strike becoming just the third side to reach this tally in the competition after Barcelona and Madrid.

PSG lost hold of the game as Bayern took over possession till the final whistle.

The Bavarians are leveled with 2019 winners Liverpool and behind only Real Madrid (13) and AC Milan (seven).
