The Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kwaku Buah has confirmed that 10 students of the Kumasi Technical Institute are in their custody helping the Police with investigations.

Students of Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) in Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi vandalized school properties in a massive protest, which occurred on Sunday evening.

The Divisional Police Commander explained the cause of the event as a result of noncompliance between teachers and students.

“They were supposed to be in a prescribed uniform for the prep but some students refused to clad in the uniform. The house masters tried to insist that the students put on the arranged uniform for the prep which did not go down well for the students,” ACP Kwaku Buah said.

“From the dormitory through the department to the house master’s bungalow even to the farms. They have destroyed a lot of things. People’s cars have been vandalized, air conditioners, louver blades, doors and a lot”

He updated that the housemaster involved in the incident was hurt on the head and was given a medical report to show up at the hospital for treatment.
