The Environmental Health Taskforce of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has arrested 14 people in the Metropolis for defecating in gutters.

The offenders were arrested for defecating in the gutters and beaches of communities such as Nkotompo, Ngyiresia, and Sekondi all in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.

Mr. Abdul Karim Hudu the Environmental Health Director who doubles as the leader for the taskforce speaking to the media said the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly will arrange the culprits before the court for a fine.

He said the government of Ghana in recent times has constructed many public toilet facilities in the Metropolis to halt open defecation yet some unscrupulous people have decided to ease themselves in the gutters and on sea coasts.

As a result, the task force will continue to arrest and prosecute sanitation offenders to serve as a deterrent to others. Hence the public should abstain from the bad practice to sanitize the environment.
