Jordan Ayew`s strike in the second half gave Ghana three points in Sao Tome and Principe as they go top of Group C in the Nations Cup qualifier.

The London base player stepped up to convert a penalty from the spot after Emmanuel Boateng was impeded by the Sao Tome goalkeeper.

Owusu`s effort was deflected before Andy Yiadom strike was parried to the corner by the Sao Tome shot stopper.

The Black Stars dominated the half with Real Mallorca midfielder Iddrisu Baba manning affairs in the heart of midfield.

Three minutes later after Ghana established their intent in the early seconds of the second half, Thomas Partey headed wide from a cross from Gideon Mensah and later a long range effort saw the Sao Tome goalkeeper fumbling to grab the ball, which was quickly picked up by Emmanuel Boateng before he was eventually fouled by the goalkeeper to earn a penalty for the Stars.

The Crystal Palace attacker expectedly converted sending the Sao Tome goalkeeper the wrong way.

Kudus Mohammed came in for Emmanuel Boateng before coach Kwesi Appiah handed Christopher Antwi-Adjei his debut after coming on to replace Samuel Owusu.

The win has clinched Ghana to the top of Group C with six points and will next play Sudan in August of 2020.
