A/R Police Command alert people on the strict enforcement of public gathering and social distancing order.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reminded the public that the restriction on public gathering and social distancing is still in force therefore people should take note and must endeavor to adhere to them else face arrest and prosecution.

 

 

In a press release issued on Thursday, April 30, 2020 signed by the Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Godwin Ahianyo, people in the region are recapped of the president’s order on social distancing and social gathering and how the security force are seeing to it enforcement to help restrict the spread of COVID-19 in the region and Ghana as a whole.

“As we approach a weekend the Command wishes to remind the good people of our region that the suspension on public gathering covers conferences, workshops, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events, private parties, night clubs, drinking spots and the operation of event centers as well as religious activities in churches, mosques, shrines etc.

“Therefore, all must adhere. Any person who witnesses that any of the banned gatherings is being held should promptly inform Police to arrest and prosecute all persons engaged in the illegal activity,” it revealed.

It also inserted that persons or families who wish to organize private burials must exceed the legitimate number (25) even at the cemetery for a taskforce has been employed to mount surveillance on the directives to bring culprits to books.

The social distancing mandate was also stressed on that people must remark the directive. Persons in vehicles such as private cars, trotro, taxis and motor bikes must also ensure social distancing. Again, the protocols of washing of hands with soap under running water, the use of alcohol-based sanitizers and wearing of masks were also encouraged by the Regional Police Command.
