Armed robbers  kill NADMO officer in Upper East Region

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officer was shot to death whiles trying to escape from a robbery scene in the Upper East Region.

Unknown armed robbers on Saturday evening, February 27, 2021, within the hours of 6:30 pm robbed people in the Pelungu market and killed the Deputy District Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region Mr Dominic Yingurima.

The armed robbers invaded the Pelungu Market and fled with a heavy amount of money from a gold dealer, a mobile money vendor, and a few other people.

Eye witness reports that the former Assemblymember for the area Honorable James Tenga in the process of the robbery ordered everyone to stay calm and oblige by the demands of the robbers but the Deputy District Director of NADMO Dominic Yingurima attempted to escape with his motorcycle and was spotted by one of the robbers who shot him from behind.

He was then rushed to the regional hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Pelungu market is the most attended market in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region and has witnessed a lot of robbery cases in recent times.

According to the former Assemblyman,  robbers have always targeted gold dealers and businessmen, during market days and has however called on the police to bring these criminals to book for the death of the young man.
