The Ashanti Regional Police Command has revealed that peace and serenity have been restored between residents of Bomfa and Adwumakase Kese following the land dispute which led to the death of an occupant after two persons were gunned by Police on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Addressing the press at the Central Police Headquarter in Kumasi, the Public Affairs Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police, ASP Godwin Ahianyo told that a police inspector was taken hostage by residents but was later rescued by the chief of Adwumakase Kese assuring that the two chiefs have agreed to iron their differences after a meeting with the command on Friday, February 26, 2021.

“Yesterday (Thursday) we (The Ashanti Regional Police Command) received a complaint from Bomfa to the effect that some youth from Adwumakase Kese had stormed that community and attacking the indigenes and the police have to proceed and unfortunately some officers were attacked, even the police inspector was taken hostage but he was later rescued by the chief of Adwumakase Kese.

“One police sergeant was hit by a foreign object so out of that he also fired shots and two-person got injured. This morning we understand that one person has lost his life, his name has been given as Emmanuel Addae and the Police Sargent that got injured is, Sgt, Acheampong Isaac, who is also receiving treatment and in a stable condition.

“We have met the two chiefs who have agreed to iron their differences. Our understanding is that they are fighting over a boundary, which is a land dispute and its something the police command is not happy about. We are assuring the people of Adwumakase Kese and Bomfa that we ll make sure this issue is resolved. We have made it known to the chief that the matter will be reported to the overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“The chief has assured they are going to their communities to talk to their men and ensure that nothing will happen. About investigation with regard to circumstances that led to the attack on Police officers and the death of the gentlemen, the matter has been handed over to the regional CID to be investigated. So far there is calm and we hope and pray it remains so until the final determination of the issue.

The Chief of Adwumakase Kese, Nana Asenso Kofo Ababio appealed to his townsmen to calm down and leave the matter to be handled by the Overlord of Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. He further commiserated with the family who have lost their relative.

“We sympathize with the family who have lost their relative. It’s sad and the demise of the gentleman is very unfortunate. We shall all die, maybe this is how his destiny was bound to end. We are sorry for what has happened and I believe my Lord, Otumfuo will make sure the case is peacefully settled.

Nana Kwaku Twumasi, Bomfahene also condemned the incident by the youth of Adwumakase Kese and urged peace to be the significant element to reign in the community. He assured that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the best person he looks up to in handling the matter and any decision will be welcome by him.

“Peace is what we seek for the two towns. I have natives at Adwumakase and the reactions of the youth were unfortunate. It is the Asantehene who can best resolve the challenge and we believe the best will be done. The involvement of life in this dispute is worrying because his demise does not reverse the problem, same as someday when I die, I won’t take away Bomfa, yet we pray for peace to prevail. The bad acts of burning houses and others must be stopped. None of the chiefs are happy about this.

He criticized the 'unprofessional work of some media houses' to take sides on the matter without enquiring about the reality of the case.
