Aston Villa continues English League fixtures continue to pile up following significant number' of players and staff remained in isolation after recording coronavirus cases.

The Premier League Board has once again postponed their clash with Everton which was supposed to be played on Sunday, January 17.

Dean Smith’s side have two games in hand to play after their game against Newcastle United which was also supposed to have taken place on December 4 was also rescheduled because of the coronavirus outbreak in the North East club. It will now be played on Saturday 23 January.

“The Premier League, in consultation with its clubs, has enhanced its COVID-19 protocols, in addition to reimplementing a twice-weekly testing programme as the health of players and staff remains the priority,” the statement revealed.

“The protocols, which strengthen key elements of the existing guidance, came into immediate effect last week.”

Aston Villa are eight on the PL table with 26 points. They are six points away from the top four spot.
