Ayariga’s Trial Adjourned as Special Prosecutor couldn’t find Witness

The special prosecutor’s case against the Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga could not commence today, [June 20, 2020] at an Accra High Court, because the state’s first witness was absent.

A prosecutor at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) Michael Baafi on today informed the court presided over by Justice Afia Asare Botwe that they intend to file a subpoena to force the witness to show up as arranged.

He explained that the Special Prosecutor’s Office has been unable to reach the witness since Saturday.

He noted that he had arranged accommodation for the witness who was traveling from the Upper East region.

He also mentioned that the witness had informed him he was at the bus terminal preparing to come down to Accra.

According to him, he has since not been able to reach the witness; prompting the OSP to consider a subpoena.
