Dimitar Berbatov has opened that Harry Kane’s exit from Tottenham Hotspurs is closing in following the non-promising expectation of the London club as the days go by.

The Bulgarian who left the club in 2008 after helping them win the League Cup for Manchester United in search of trophies believes Harry is in the same mental state as he was and it won't be a surprise if he quits Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

“I was Harry Kane at Tottenham once,” Berbatov told Betfair in an interview.

“I was in this position with the same decision and at the same club. There will be big thoughts going through his head.

Berbatov’s departure saw him lift two Premier League titles, one League Cup, two Community Shields, the Club World Cup and reached the Champions League final.

Kane, 27 years has endured a trophyless season as the captain of Spurs and per the words of the former mate, the decision to move will depend on what the Three Lions Captain’s ambitions are in football.

He added that though if he leaves, a lot of Spurs fans will be disappointed yet it's about his career and the legacy he intends to leave in football.

“If he moves, he will be disappointing lots of Spurs fans. Some will turn against him, it is how it is in football. Fans take it personally and think that you are leaving, they feel that you've betrayed the club.

“My situation was similar, but also slightly different. I wanted to go to the biggest club to win trophies and that was Manchester United. When I heard there was a chance to go there, I did not hesitate.

“It depends on what your goals are in football… you might love a club and just want to play football and enjoy the game, other players want trophies. Everyone is different.

“If Kane called me I would tell him he has to make the right choice, decide on his personal ambitions and motivations.

“If he leaves, he will let some people down. It is his decision and it is going to be a difficult one.”
