Chelsea have suffered another Ben Chilwell fitness blow following his first-half exit from England’s Nations Cup game with Belgium.

The Three Lions lost to the World's number 1 ranked team by 2-0 – Youri Tieleman opened the scores in the 10-minute when his goal took a double deflection to beat Pickford in post before Merten’s launched a free-kick to double the lead in the 23-minute to sink the hopes of Gareth Southgate’s side from qualifying into the semifinals of the tournament.

The former Leicester City man started at the left wing-back role and was key in providing attacking intent in the first half.

He was seen exiting the game limping off, an upset Lampard would not be happy due to the busy schedule of fixtures and the impact of the 23-year old.

The extent of the injury has not been confirmed, with Chelsea yet to provide any information concerning the player’s exit.

The Blues face Newcastle United at the St. James Park in their next Premier League fixture at early kickoff on Saturday before hosting travelling to Rennes two days later to compete in the Champions League after a 3-0 win in the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
