Chelsea wants to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and will use Tammy Abraham as a makeweight.

The Daily Mail has reported that the Norwegian joining the Blues in the summer is unlikely even if Chelsea meet the asking price of Borussia Dortmund since the player has his eyes set on a much bigger club.

Although the German club does not want to sell their coveted striker, the ambitious Haaland is open to taking the next step up in his career.

Haaland, 20, is under contract at Dortmund until 2024 but has a reported €75m (£66m) release clause, which comes into effect in the summer of 2022.

The Norway international has developed into one of the world's most prolific forwards scoring 41 goals in 41 games in all competitions for Dortmund since joining from Red Bull Salzburg for just £17m at the end of 2019.

The Mail claim Chelsea have players who could be offered in negotiations including £40m-rated Tammy Abraham and his name has been raised in initial talks.

Chelsea acquired Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Edouard Mendy, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech last summer for more than £200m under Frank Lampard but the arrival of Thomas Tuchel has earned them a Champions League trophy.

The Premier League side is seeking to bolster their attack ahead of next season.
