Ben Chilwell has suffered another injury and it is a blow to Chelsea.

The defender was withdrawn from the England squad along with Kieran Trippier and will miss Wednesday’s Nations League fixture against Denmark at Wembley.

The Atletico Madrid left-back according to talkSPORTS was allowed to leave camp due to personal reasons whiles Chilwell has returned to Chelsea to assess his fitness.

Chilwell was absent from England's 2-1 Nations League win over Belgium on Sunday evening with an illness and Gareth Southgate's injury update on Monday revealed that he was unfit before leaving camp.

"Ben reported to the hotel today," the England boss said.

"He did a training session on his own.

"We've just got to assess where he's at because he hasn't been able to train through the week.

"So, there's a little bit of assessment needed over the next couple of days but he is with the group now."

The Leicester City left-back made his debut against Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 3 where he marked his appearance with a goal.

He was not able to feature in the first three Premier League fixtures for Chelsea having missed the end of Leicester's 2019/20 campaign with a heel injury before signing a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge to complete a transfer worth £50million.

Chelsea will play Southampton on Saturday at Stamford Bridge and the club has reported that his availability will be communicated by the manager.

“He will now return to Chelsea and an update on his fitness will be provided by Frank Lampard in his customary pre-match press conference from Cobham on Friday afternoon,” the club confirmed.

He is the second player to be withdrawn during the internationals following Edouard Mendy by Senegal due to injury.
