Christ Apostolic Church East Legon Adiringanor Celebrates Ghana’s Rich Heritage Through Food, Fashion, And Tradition

In honour of Ghana's independence, celebrated every year on March 6th, the Apostolic Church International at East Legon Adiringanor dedicated the month of March to showcasing Ghanaian culture.

The celebration culminated Sunday, March 23rd, marking the final day of the program under the theme: "The New is Built from the Old."

Elder Caleb Osei, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of remembering the contributions of Ghana’s ancestors. He highlighted the values passed down through traditions, including the foods they ate, their style of dressing, and their respectful ways of communicating, which he believes contributed to their longevity and strong sense of identity.

As part of the celebration, church members dressed in traditional attire and prepared local delicacies to give the youth a deeper understanding of their heritage. Some of the dishes showcased included Aprenprensa, Akaow Apiesie, Empotopoto, and many more.

Traditional drinks such as sobolo and millet drink were also served, enriching the cultural experience.

Elder Osei urged church leaders across the country to organize cultural events at least three times a year to help the younger generation appreciate and learn from the rich traditions of their forebears.

The event was a vibrant display of unity and pride, reinforcing the importance of preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage for future generations.
