Concerned Zongo Youth of Asawase 'DISASSOCIATE' itself from the murder of Oheneba Kwadwo Afoduor

The Asantene’s Asamponhene was murdered last month at the Ejura-Nkoranza road and according to reports; the Police have named a man in connection with the killing as a prime suspect.

The Concerned Zongo Youth of Asawase (CZYAS) have condemned the killing of Oheneba Kwadwo Afoduor and disassociated themselves from the ‘unfortunate’ act.

The Asantene’s Asamponhene was murdered last month at the Ejura-Nkoranza road. He was stabbed multiple times by assailants and left to die at the backseat of his Toyota Land Cruiser V8 vehicle at Ebuom on the Ejura, Nkoranza.

According to Jawadi Obama, the secretary of the association, the Zongo community disapprove and eschew the act perpetrated by Sadat Mohammed therefore; it was needful to organize the conference to disassociate the Zongo Youth from the act.

The CZYAS at the press conference commended the Police for arresting the culprit and making sure that justice is served.

A statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, Godwin Ahianyo revealed that, the suspect, Anumwar Sadat Mohammed  was arrested in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Monday, September 16, 2019 “through a collaborative effort of the Ashanti and Upper East Regional Police Command, the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso and the Interpol Ghana and Burkina Faso.”
“He is in currently in [police] custody assisting in investigations. The suspect had fled the country to neighbouring Burkina Faso to settle with his family but luck, however, eluded him and he was arrested.” the statement disclosed.

The secretary of the association denied their involvement and announced their disassociated from the act.

“We organized this press meeting to condemn the immoral act committed by our brother, Sadat Mohammed. We highly commend the Police Service for not resting and making sure that the perpetrators are brought to book,” he said.

“People have the notion that Zongo Communities breed evil and are responsible for corrupt and immoral acts in the country. We want to inform Ghanaians and the world at large that it is never so. We disassociate ourselves from the depraved act,” he ended.

 Jawadi Obama on behalf of the Concerned Zongo Youth of Asawasi directed their condolence to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his loss and the family of the deceased.

He pleaded to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, ruler of the Asante Empire that the action of Sadat should not obstruct the relationship between the Zongo Communities in Kumasi and Manhyia.
