Covid-19 Fund Receives over Ghc 8 Million as Donations – Prez Akufo Addo

The President of Ghana, Nana Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded donors into the Covid-19 Fund established to provide relief for the needy amid the pandemic.

Addressing the nation on Sunday, he disclosed that an amount of GH¢8.75million has already been received into the fund. This, he said includes some $600,000.

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) are among the institutions to have contributed to the fund.

Three members of the Presbytery of the Church, Prophet Christopher Yaw Annor, Rev. Anthony Cudjoe and Rev. Morris Appiah, presented a cheque of  GH¢100,000  to the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare at the Jubilee House on Thursday.

The Majority caucus in Parliament has also donated GH¢100,000 to the fund.

“Mr. Speaker, let me announce that Majority has decided to contribute GH¢100,000 to complement the efforts of the government to fighting this…disruptive menace,” the Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said on Saturday.

Akufo-Addo thanked the all donors, particularly his appointees for emulating his example in donating their salaries to the fund.

“I am happy that so many of my appointees have also followed my example by donating their salaries to the fund,” the President said.
