Tottenham were frustrated by buttom placed Watford City in the ninth fixture of the Premier League. The points were shared apiece by the two sides after two goals from each half. Doucoure scored the Hornets opener before Dele Alli gave Spurs a late equalizing goal.

Maurico Pochettino made seven changes from the defeat at Brighton starting Paulo Gazzaniga goal in place of the injured Hugo Lloris, while Serge Aurier, Davison Sanchez, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura were featured. It was a first Premier League start of the season for Alli. Son Heung-min was benched.

Quique Sanchez Flores made two changes from the 0-0 with Sheffield United. Craig Dawson replaced Sebastian Prodl while Nathaniel Chalobah got a rare start in midfield - his first in the Premier League this season.

Doucoure set the ball rolling for Watford in the early minute with a goal after Welbaeck was strectched off earlier with injury. A nice move down the right saw Jaanmat get past Rose with ease. He gained support in the middle and Doucoure was the man to waltz in before sliding one into the net.

Watford bent the pressure on Tottenham and looked to capitalize on their dropped confidence. A Spurs penalty appeal was disallowed in the 17-minute after Rose got his body across Pereyra inside the area and hit the deck. Every Spurs fan inside the stadium screamed for a penalty but Chris Kavanagh waved it away. VAR looked and endorsed Chris Kavanagh's decision.

Tottenham started to pin Watford back. The approach play was too slow and the quality from wide areas was missing.

A penalty was presented in the 39-minute after Deulofeu was fouled in the Spurs box. The Watford foward skipped away down the right flank and into the box. He was about crossing into the six-yard box when Vertonghen pulled a tackle on him to fall. Watford surrounded the referee for a penalty but Chris Kavanagh put his hand to his ear and turned down the appeal to end the first half 1-0 for Watford with just a shot on target for Spurs.

Son made an impact by hitting the cross bar in the 48-minute. The Spurs forward danced his way down the right, caught inside and banged an effort from a tight angle, which came crashing back off the bar.

Deulofeu captalized on the missed Spurs chance and charged in behind Rose and raced through on goal. With the pace and enough space ahead, he tested Gazzaniga yet decided to roll one across goal for Pereyra. Aurier did enough to force the ball clear.

The Spurs defense was busy dealing with runs from Deulofeu. The former Everton man could've scored two or three if his chances were taken against struggling Spurs. There was no intensity when they attacked through the middle and the three Watford centre-backs dominated Kane, who was quiet on the day.
