Billy Sharp’s 73-minute strike from the spot was enough to give Sheffield United their first win in the Premier League against a 10-man Newcastle United at the Bramall Lane.

Ryan Fraser was shown a red card on the stroke of half time as the Magpies played the entire second half period with 10 men.
McGodridge was presented with the best opportunity in the game after Calum chance went wide from eight yards in the 28-minute.
Osborn laid a decent pass unto the left for Ampadu, who whipped a brilliant delivery into the far post where Newcastle could hardly defend. McGoldrick looked for the near post but headed it wide.
A Longstaff's diagonal across from midfield towards Hayden was touched to Yedlin to reach Wilson. The forward got the ball stuck under his feet but Osborn did well to block it on the second attempt to deny Steve Bruce side a goal.

The Magpies were reduced to 10 after Ryan Fraser received a second booking for a lazy challenge on Lundstram.
The home side intensified their play in the second half and almost took the lead but an unmarked Bogle in the six-yard box failed to find the net as he forced the goalkeeper to make a stretch and deny an early second-half lead.
The Blades kept on pressing the Magpies but couldn’t find a way through until a penalty was awarded for Chris Wilder’s men after a long ball forward contested between Sharp and Fernandez finally hit the latter.
After a couple of VAR reviews, the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty.
Sharp sent Darlow the wrong way to put the Blades into the lead.

Newcastle almost levelled the scores on the stroke of full time after Ramsdale missed a ball he was meant to collect. Bogle headed it back past stranded Ramsdale to go past the post.
The 18th fixture finally ended in favor of Sheffield United.
