The Reds lost for the first time at Anfield in 1,369 days as their goalless run stretches to four for the first time in 21 years, and are winless in five games.

Liverpool begun with a first chance when Burnley half-cleared a corner but Shaqiri recycled play out wide on the right and caught inside for an inviting cross into the box which Fabinho gets his head to, but failed to keep the effort on target.

They kept pressing the visitors as Fabinho almost notched the opener from Alexander Arnold’s cross y getting his head to it but the Clarets block before heading away from six yards.

Burnley were resilient and composed at the back as they defended the Reds crosses and easily without cussing threats.

The Reds were scared by the Clarets in the 13-minute Wood competed with Alisson for a long ball which spilled at the feet of Barnes. He lined up a shot towards the unguarded Liverpool goal but Alisson atoned with a flying save on the edge of the box.
