The Ahafo Regional Chairman of Ghana National Association of Traditional Healers, Dr Yaw Banney Alias Dr Yabi said, the training will help the herbalists to produce good and hygienic medicine fit for human consumption.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has trained herbal practitioners in Ahafo Region a good manufacturing and hygienic practices for the herbal industry.

The one day workshop in Goaso took herbalists through the manufacturing, source of raw materials and water, drying, where they kept the bottles, preservation and packaging of herbal products among other basic topics in the industry.

 Over 90 participants were drawn from Sankore, Mim, Kukuom, Bechem and Goaso.

The Senior Regulatory Officer for Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, Richard Kyeremeh Yeboah explained that the decision to develop the programme was in recognition of the fact that the majority of the practitioners needed a capacity building to enable them to appreciate the need for regulation of their products since most  Ghanaians believe in herbal medicine.
