GPRTU Alert the General Public of a 10% Increment from Next Week

The Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced that Ghanaians will see a rise in the price of fares from next week.

A statement signed by Mr. Kwame Kuma, the National Chairman of GPRTU and Mr. John Benyawoh, also the National Chairman of the Ghana Road Coordinating Council on Tuesday explained a 10% increment, which will be effective from September 16, 2019. The reason for the increment according to the Union is about the rise in prices of the various components that goes into running of commercial vehicles.

Fares were increased in Ghana last year and the rise will cover Intra City (Trotro), InterCity (Long Distance) and Shared Taxis.

Members were requested by the GPRTU to comply with the new fares and post fare list at the loading terminals so as to avoid any confrontation with the travelling public. An appeal was conveyed to the Members, Commuters and the General Public to kindly cooperate for the successful implementation of the new fares.
