THE leadership of the Commercial Transport Operators in Ghana are calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to, as matter of urgency halt the sale of 60 per cent stake in four hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Rock City Hotel, owned by the Food and Agriculture Minister, Honourable Bryan Acheampong.
In a strong worded statement dated July 12, 2024, signed by leaders of the Commercial Transport Operators in Ghana in the person's of Chairman Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG), Paa Willie, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for True Drivers UnionYaw Barima and PRO Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, David Agboado, they stressed the need for President Akufo-Addo to, decline the controversial sale of shares in Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) hotels.
"As Transport Operators and true citizens of the country, it's our mandate to protect the investment of Ghanaians and the country as a whole.
"We believe the sale of the hotels is detrimental to the interests and the welfare of the country’s workforce," the statement noted.
The statement asked "If government refuses to drop the sales of the shares, we are assuring the general public and our stakeholders that, we will join on the of our mother union starting 15/07/2024.
