Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane's plans for the rearranged Clasico on December 18 have been thrown into disarray by Eden Hazard's fitness, with the Belgian pictured on crutches at the team's Christmas gathering.

It was an image that left a lot of supports concerned that the Belgian international would not be able to play in the fixture, having suffered the ankle injury against Paris Saint-Germain.

Hazard arrived at the Filandon restaurant with Thibaut Courtois driving, and it appeared as though he was having real trouble with mobility.

He was unable to drive or stand up for the team photo in the restaurant, suggesting that he can barely support his right ankle, which puts him in doubt for the trip to Catalonia.

Hazard goes to Valdebebas daily to be treated by the medical team, but his recovery has been far slower than was originally anticipated.

Initially he was expected to miss around eight to ten days, but he is further behind than anyone expected him to be by this point.

Zidane has already refused to declare Hazard fit enough to play against Los Cules, and he is starting to suspect that he will be without his summer signing until the new year.

A change in system is likely to follow, with the 4-4-2 with Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema as centre-forwards the most probable alternative.
