The Reds skipper could miss the rest of the season although no timescale has been placed upon his return.

Liverpool has confirmed that Jordan Henderson has undergone successful surgery following the injury sustained during the Merseyside derby with Everton on Sunday, February 21, 2021.

The Reds lost the derby by 2-0 against a resilient Toffees by after goal from Richarlison and Sigurdsson but were let down by the withdrawal of Jordan Henderson after his knee injury adding to the Reds long list of players recovering.

"Following further assessment with the club’s medical team, Henderson has successfully had a corrective procedure carried out on the adductor injury. He will begin a rehabilitation programme immediately," the statement told.

The Reds captain as reported by the Sun on Wednesday could miss the rest of the season and the Euro 2020 although Liverpool have given “no specific timescale upon his return; however, the 30-year-old is ruled out initially until after the March international break.”

“Henderson’s recovery will be closely monitored by the club’s medical department and his progression during his rehab work will determine when he is able to resume full training,” the club added in a statement.
