A  Group believed to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station folks is calling on the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to shun the acting Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atebubu/Amantin Municipality, Honourable Edward Owusu over allegations of incompetence.

The Spokesperson for the Atebubu/Amantin NPP polling station agents, Mr Effa Emmanuel said the MCE is causing divisions in the party hence their prompt towards the president of Ghana.

“We want the MCE to quit. He is not performing. He is dividing the party and for that reason, he is the cause of us losing our seat to the NDC”, he stressed.

This comes after the Atebubu Traditional Council has called on President Akufo-Addo to consider the reappointment of Honourable Edward Owusu as Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu Amantin Municipal Assembly for his excellent performance in his first term in office.

According to the Twafohene of Atebubu traditional council, Nana Ofori Yeboah who spoke on behalf of the chiefs said, Hon Edward Owusu has performed massively well since his day of the appointment. He indicated that the cordial relationship between Hon Edward Owusu and the Chiefs of the area have yielded fruitful results in the area hence their call.

He mentioned Education, Health, Roads, Portable Drinking water, Extension of Electricity, Sanitation, Business centres and employment for the youth as some of the projects and programmes they jointly executed in the area.

He made this appeal when Honourable Edward Owusu now acting as the MCE for Atebubu Amantin Municipality commissioned a CHPS compound for the Zongo community in the area.

On her part, the Queen mother of Atebubu traditional council Nana Afua Donyina also described the MCE as a God-fearing person who seeks unity among the people in the Municipality.

But the NPP polling agents want the MCE removed as they claim he will cause the defeat of the party in 2024 if he is retained.
