Former Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes believes £60 million for the signing of Le Roy Sane from Manchester City to the Allianz Arena is not a fair deal judging the fact that the 24 year old is still a work in progress of becoming a top star.

Personal terms have been agreed and the German club have initially offered €40m (£35m), which is £11m less than what City paid Schalke for Sane in 2016 yet they are confident of snapping him up for less than £60 million.

"For me, he has not yet made a breakthrough to becoming an absolute top player," Heynckes said.

“I think this is a player at a crossroads. Will he keep working hard on himself or will he remain just as an exceptional talent?

“He has to be ready to take the next big step because there is no use in flashing the talent from time to time.

“I also honestly tell you that I don’t consider the price justifiable.

The Manchester City player tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Community Shield against Liverpool and has since been sidelined throughout the season.

He resumed training with the Premier League champions before the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic forcing sporting events to go into exile.
