The Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh has assured the family of late General Constable Emmanuel Osei that justice will prevail in the murder of their relative.

The IGP paid a visit to the family of Constable Emmanuel Osei of the National SWAT, who was murdered in cold blood by armed robbers who attacked a bullion van at James Town, Accra on Monday 14th June 2021. He paid the visit with members of the Police Management Board. He pledged the Police Administration’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to book.

The Police Service used the occasion to introduce the appointed police-family liaison officer for arrangements towards the burial of the officer. A psychologist has also been assigned to them.

The IGP also took the opportunity to deny the general impression that the security service is out of touch with the realities when it comes to fighting crime in Ghana. He refuted claims that the security service is napping due to the amount of crimes in the country and attacks on Police Officers and attributed the uprise of criminalities as a great challenge across West Africa yet the Police are putting up the necessary efforts to curb it.

“Anybody who says that doesn't know what he’s saying,” he said when asked about the rise in criminal activities in the company of the security service.

“You understand every society has its own issues. Whoever says we are out of touch with the system is not studying the topography of the West African sub region.

"Anybody or any security analysis will let you know that the West Africa sub region is currently experiencing a high wave of crime in all the countries.

“It doesn’t mean that we should fold our arms and say we will not do anything. We are perfectly doing what we can to protect Ghanaians.

“We’ll take the necessary steps by intensifying patrol and as I have indicated, we’ll definitely get them.”
