The President's Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has described the recent incident of members of the Christ Embassy Church in Accra allegedly flouting COVID-19 rules as very unfortunate.

The Church came under the spotlight after it held a mega programme at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair Centre last Friday.

Videos of the event showing thousands of the congregants gathered at the Dome without observing social distancing protocols, circulated on social media.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare talking to Accra based Citi News said “Friday night’s incident is rather unfortunate.”

“Outside the police action, we haven’t taken any other action. We are waiting for their report, and I hope it will be done well according to law,” he said.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare however commended the larger Christian community for its cooperation with the government in the fight against COVID-19.

“But all in all, the churches have been very helpful in the fight against the pandemic. Most of the churches comport themselves and generally stick to the safety protocols. They have been cooperative so far.”
