Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Southampton leveler late in the game was the worst time for his defense to allow such a goal.

The Red Devils were on the verge of securing the third spot on Monday night after Stuart Armstrong's early lead was canceled by Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the first half.

Michael Obafemi scored a dramatic added-time equalizer to deny Manchester United a top-four entry after Chelsea and Leicester slipped up during the weekend.

Manager for the Red Devils spoke disappointment yet recognized the efforts of Southampton and called for focus in Manchester United’s three remaining games.

"It's the worst time to concede a goal but that happens in football - you've just got to take it because we've won so many games that way ourselves. It's all part of the learning for this team to be sat there, really disappointed after you think the three points are in the bag.

"But probably we didn't deserve three points today. They played well. They're physical, very fit. We never got the rhythm in our passing today, especially when we got to 2-1 but we created chances, played some fantastic football at times.

"We've had enough recovery; it was just one of those days where we didn't take our chances."

United will play Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park before they welcome Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, July 19, 2020.
