Kumasi Metro CELEBRATE the first Anniversary of NABCO in Kumasi

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) yesterday, October 8, 2019 celebrated the first Anniversary of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) program initiated by the government of Ghana to address graduate unemployment.

The focus of the NABCO initiative is solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection. The program held at the Kumasi Cultural Center was honored by the Kumasi Metropolitan Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi in the midst of hundreds of NABCO employees.

 

 

The Ashanti Region is one of the huge beneficiaries of the NABCO inventiveness introduced by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana and boasts of a 25,000-selected trainees as the Kumasi Metro alone has 6,269 employees on grounds.

Hon. Osei Assibey acknowledged NABCO trainees for their tireless effort in helping the growth of the program and cheered them to keep up working hard to define the reason for NABCO’s existence. He also directed the attendees to take advantage of the occasion and access their performance through personal accounts of stewardship in order to progress in the subsequent years.

 

 

“Anniversaries are not celebrated for nothing. They are opportunities for stock taking and introspection. Take advantage of the occasion to access your performance. I was so happy when entering to hear some of you give accounts of your stewardship. Sharing of knowledge is key because it helps one another. We do not always have to give the positive side, but the challenges as well in order to fashion out the best way of solving”

“To this, I want to assure, that the program has come to stay but you are the one that will make it viable. You have been given the opportunity and you are the pioneers. Please take advantage of the opportunity that you have. It has given a lot of you room for experience”

“Please endeavor to humble yourself in order to acquire knowledge… the designers knew the value of the program that is why they took their time to draft such,” he said.

He further revealed to the press that some of the trainees have been posted to work at assigned places whiles others are still on training achieving knowledge and experiences and receiving wages as well. The challenges of NABCO’s resourcefulness was also unveiled and assured of deciphering to empower its motive and service.

 

 

The Kumasi Metro NABCO coordinator, Mr. C. Kusi Ampofo spoke that institutional placement has been one of the confusing encounters due to the rejection of trainees by certain institutions for the thought of no space to be accommodated. He voiced that government is in a progressive position of resolving much of the challenges.

Lucy Agyekum, a member of NABCO weighed out multiple benefits of the initiative towards Ghanaians and its significance in the socio-economic era. She attested that NABCO has dismissed worries of joblessness among Ghanaians and help to improve trainees for permanent future jobs. The NABCO member expressed gratitude towards the inventers for the potent idea.

Dennis Opoku Katakyie Asiedu, NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) president, narrated that majority of his friends during the commencement of the program by the President took it to be a witticism but when he applied and was chosen to be part of the thousand, his life has been transformed. He applauded the government for their vision and called for more innovativeness to move Ghana foward.

 

“The Unemployment Association of Ghana is no more. There is one association left when it comes to occupational issues, and that is the NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana – NABTAG,” he said.

“I am pleading to government that the three years will soon be over so they should do their best permanent us to help build the Nation,”
