Liverpool have recorded a historic 4-2 scoreline at Old Trafford against Manchester United to brighten their Champions League qualification for next season.

It was Liverpool's first Premier League win at Old Trafford since March 2014, and Jürgen Klopp's first-ever away win against Manchester United with the club.

The Reds went from a goal down to score three, courtesy of Jota and a brace by Roberto Firmino before Mohamed Salah registered a fourth on the night.

Liverpool knew what the match meant to them as the top four kept tightening with Leicester and Chelsea having a game to play next week.

Jurgen Klopp’s side started the game slowly which gave Manchester United the fighting attitude to take the game to them.

The Reds were down as early as the 10-minute when Fernandes put the Red Devils in the lead.

It was a neat switch of play by the visitors when Pogba found Rashford to hold the ball up well for Wan-Bissaka down the right with a dink run.

He picked out Fernandes in the middle and struck the ball but it was agonizingly thumped home by Phillips inside the six-yard box.

Liverpool kept pushing as a penalty appeal was rejected by the VAR when Phillips was sent flying over by Bailly's follow-through.

With Ten Minutes to The First Half, Jota levelled the scores after Phillips dug the ball out of a tight area through a delivered corner. He dribbled a few strides away before striking and his effort was flicked home superbly by a waiting Jota in the six-yard box.

Firmino put the Reds in front late in the first half when he headed in a freekick past Dean Henderson.

The Brazilian added his second of the night and the Reds third two minutes into the second half before Diogo Jota hit the post with what could have been a fourth for Klopp’s men.

Manchester United gradually warmed into the game and were awarded a goal through Marcus Rashford. Cavani sotted his team-mate through into the area, and it was a neat finish into the far corner with the Liverpool defence unable to scramble back. The ball took a nick off the post into the net to give United hope of a leveller.

Mohamed Salah killed it in the 90-minute minute when Fabinho and Firmino won the ball deep for the Egyptian. With no one around, he run and slotted it coolly past Henderson to make it 4-2.

Man Utd are second on 70 points, Liverpool move up to fifth on 60 points, four behind fourth-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.
