Ross Barkley Celebrating His Goal.

Goals  from Willian and  Ross Barkley saw Chelsea condemn Liverpool to their second successive defeat in all competitions.

Liverpool’s dream of a history treble has now effectively ended.

The Premier League title has already been wrapped up, but they look set for an early Champions league exit at the hands of European stalwarts, Atletico Madrid who have a goal advantage going into the second leg.

Chelsea are now through to the quarterfinals. Owing the win largely to excellent saves by the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Premier League leaders who did not seem to have the ability to lose have now lost three games in four across all competitions.

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp fielded a balanced team with few inexperienced players so this was not a case of a proper team not playing.

Klopp’s side were looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat at the hands of Premier League strugglers the last time they were away, as their 44-match unbeaten streak was ended in stunning fashion.

They could not find joy at the hands of Chelsea either, as they were well beating by a largely underperforming Chelsea.

Liverpool started the match on the front foot, but faded into the second half. They were made to pay for their reduced intensity in the end.

Although the first goal was an error from the Reds goalkeeper, Adrian, Liverpool were well beaten. They have lost their “air of invincibility” and now teams are no longer afraid to try and beat them.

Billy Gilmour, an 18 year old Chelsea midfielder dominated a midfield filled with much more experienced players on just his third start for the team.

The youth prospect gave a display that was beyond his years against the World Champions.

Ironically, Liverpool are the ones used to fielding young and inexperienced players against stiff opposition and still getting away with it. Chelsea’s boss, Frank Lampard beat Liverpool at their own game this time.

The last two times Chelsea beat Liverpool in the FA competition, they went on to win it.

Liverpool’s season of utter dominance, now looks set to end, surely.
