Mr Kofi Acheampong has exposed the 'unscrupulous dealings' of Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research after alleged fraud of his coronavirus results.

The Ghanaian international based in the United Kingdom has uncovered how his COVID-19 test was made-up after he undertook an examination at the Institute before returning to London.

According to him, confirmed by his Laboratory report, he was earlier tested positive of the novel pandemic and had plans to postpone his travel only to be called by a worker at the same Laboratory of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research for an alteration of result for a price.

“I was preparing to leave Ghana for the United Kingdom and was entreated by British Airways to undertake the COVID-19 test before embarking the journey,” he said.

“I travelled to Accra, Legon to Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research for the test on the 10th. I was charged c350 for the fee and was scheduled to come for the results on the 12, the exact day of my departure. At 1 pm, I went there for the results and the test was positive.

“In fact, I was despondent as to how I will leave the country. I then decided to hold on to my travel until my result is confirmed negative, which means, postponing my trip and so on my way to the car park to drive out, I received a call from Noguchi and the caller was a guy who works at the premises telling me that the negative results can be changed to positive only f I want to travel.

“He told me I’ll pay c500 cedis for that alteration to be made. In fact, I was contemplating and later agreed to it because I saw it as an opportunity.

“I paid the money and it was done and I left for the UK,” he added.

Mr Acheampong expounded that he was uncertain of the results undertaken in Ghana and decided to go for another test whiles in London to confirm the previous.

“Right after I returned, I decided to go for another test to confirm whether what was on the paper after the test was genuine.

"I received the test and the result was negative. In fact, I was very astonished about what is happening in Ghana."

He has therefore called on all travellers to be cautious due to the new method embraced by some Ghanaian Health Centres in frauding people for their money.
