With the transfer window set to open at the end of the rescheduled 2019/20 season, it seems inevitable that Manchester United will be linked with wantaway Real Madrid players, and it has emerged that the club may be looking for a low-cost way to sign James Rodriguez.

James had been given a second chance under Zinedine Zidane after his loan with Bayern Munich ended, however, he has failed to force his way into the team on a regular basis.

Several reports in England believe that Manchester United have a strong interest in the Colombian as a low-cost option, despite having been closely linked to Jadon Sancho of late.

James' contract ends in June 2021, which means Los Blancos would have to cash in on the midfielder in the summer in order to avoid him departing on a free.

For a player who cost 80 million euros back in 2014, that would be an unthinkable loss for Florentino Perez and the Spanish club.

However, the one unknown is just how the fiscal side of football will develop in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, with it obvious that clubs will have a lot less money to spend.

Alongside Manchester United, English reports also suggest that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to reunite with James at Everton.
