Rafael Nadal beat Denis Shapolavov of Canada to secure Spain's sixth Davis Cup title in Madrid.

The Caja Magica hosted the new-look tournament over the last seven days, which was organised successfully by Gerard Pique and his Kosmos group.

Roberto Bautista Agut set Spain on their way to victory on Sunday with a win over Felix-Auger Aliassime.

With the tie being best of three points, Nadal had the chance to seal the title before the final doubles match.

He did so, beating Shapolavov 6-3, 7-6 to send the Madrid arena into euphoria.

Spain's previous titles came in 2000, 2004, 2008. 2009 and 2011.
