The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of oppressing the press and citizens.

This comes after Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah  was arrested on Tuesday, May 11,  and allegedly tortured by some National Security operatives.

Reacting to the incident, the NDC communicator in a Twitter post said : “The NDC condemns in no uncertain terms, the arrest of Caleb Kudah and the gestapo invasion of the office of Citi FM by armed National Security operatives.

“The act is unlawful and preposterous. The oppression of journalists and citizens by the despotic Akufo-Addo gov’t must stop.”

However, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Affail Monney has said Caleb Kudah breached the Association's code of ethics in filming at the premises of the National Security Ministry,

He said, the journalist breached Article 13 of the GJA constitution.

"Caleb erred as far as our ethics is concerned. He clearly breached the ethics relative to Article 13 of our own code of ethics which specifies journalists should take pictures through fair, straight forward and honest means unless tampered with by national interest.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Security has issued a statement assuring the general public it has begun investigations into the contact of its personnel alleged to have abused and assaulted two Citi FM journalists.
