Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer supports Gareth Southgate’s omission of Mason Greenwood from the England senior team squad.

The manager believes that Greenwood has a lot to learn as a young player who aspires to make a name in football and render unto country hence the need to instil in him much discipline to perfect his development for the advantage of England.

“Mason is one of the top strikers of the future for England and for sure he is going to play many games for England,” Solskjaer said.

“This now obviously has been a learning curve for him.

“Mason has to reflect on where he's at and what he needs to do, how to get to where he wants to get to.

“I had a very nice chat with Gareth about our players and the England possibles. As I've said, games are very important for players to get some minutes but we'll get loads of training into Mason. I respect Gareth's decision, definitely.”

A written apology has been offered by the two but their services were withheld, an approach believed to be chastening by the FA.

Three new additions, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Bukayo Saka and Harvey Barnes received first-time call ups by Southgate to participate in the Three Lions  Belgium and Denmark Nations League games and a friendly against Wales during the international break.
