As the Homowo festival approaches, the Omanjor Chief, Nii Ayitey Tackie I, has called on residents of Ga-Adangme or Ga-Adangbe and beyond to embrace peace and unity during the celebrations.
The Chief's appeal comes at a time when the community is preparing to commemorate the migration of the Ga people from the north to their present location.
In a statement released by the Omanjor Palace, the Chief emphasized the importance of harmony and togetherness, saying, "As we prepare to commemorate the Homowo festival, I urge all residents and Ga-Adangme or Ga-Adangbe to put aside their differences and come together in the spirit of unity and love. Let us celebrate our rich cultural heritage with dignity and respect for one another."
The Homowo festival, which is a significant cultural event, showcases the rich heritage and traditions of the Gadangme people.
The celebration includes a series of activities, including traditional dances, music, and the sprinkling of kpokpoi (a traditional dish made from corn dough).
The chief also cautioned against any form of violence or disorderly behavior, saying, "Let us celebrate our heritage with peace and love. I implore the youth to refrain from any acts that may mar the beauty of our festival."
The traditional ruler expressed gratitude to
the people for their continued support and cooperation, saying, "I am proud to lead such a wonderful people, and I look forward to a peaceful and joyous celebration."
The Homowo festival is scheduled to take place on 10th and is expected to attract thousands of participants and spectators from across the country.
