Premier League football is set to return in the month of June after the government on Monday afternoon released a roadmap for exiting the lockdown.

UEFA has already asked all of its member associations to outline restart proposals by May 25, after the association made known their plans for the completion of the Champions League and Europa League on May 27.

In England, professional sporting events will resume from June but will still be conducted under safety conditions with the step two of the road map, "permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed-doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact".

Boris Johnson’s document titled, “Our Plan to Rebuild” is a guideline as to how the various protocols put in place to prevent the pandemic from escalating will be adhered.

Fans invitation to be part of the game according to page 21 of the document "may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections" meaning, the supporters of the various clubs would be exempted from the game until it is fitting to.

"Nevertheless the Government will wish to open as many businesses and public places as the data and information at the time allows.

"In order to facilitate the fastest possible reopening of these types of higher-risk businesses and public places, the Government will carefully phase and pilot reopening to test their ability to adopt the new COVID-19 Secure guidelines.

"The Government will also monitor carefully the effects of reopening other similar establishments elsewhere in the world, as this happens.

"The Government will establish a series of task forces to work closely with stakeholders in these sectors to develop ways in which they can make these businesses and public places COVID-19 Secure."

A date of May 18 has been pencilled in for a return to training, while June 8 and June 12 have previously been discussed as possible restart dates.
