The Premier League has confirmed that six positive coronavirus cases have been recorded from three clubs.

The Premier League is set to return in the month of June after the PL voted unanimously for clubs to begin small group training as preparation towards the ‘Project Restart’.

748 players and club staffs were tested and per reports from the PL on Tuesday, six have tested positive although the statement did not reveal whether they were players or staff members due to “legal and operational requirements”.

The positive persons will be self-isolated for seven days.

“The Premier League can today confirm that, on Sunday 17 May and Monday 18 May, 748 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19,” the statement said.

“Of these, six have tested positive from three clubs.

“Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days. 

“The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and oversight.

“No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the Premier League due to legal and operational requirements,” it ended.
