Incoming reports indicates that the Premier League are considering holding a World Cup-style tournament in order to play the remaining fixtures of the current season.

There are 92 fixtures remaining to finish the 2019/20 season and according to the Independent, all the matches would be played in the same city and behind closed doors with other sporting competitions such as the NBA and Bundesliga also thinking about adopting same format.

London is believed to be the best candidate to host the games, The Independent report.

The teams would be spread out across the city in various hotels, whilst the games would be played in different stadiums, with at least one match a day being competed.

Teams would also be allowed a two-week 'mini pre-season' so that the players can recover some of the fitness they would have lost over the coronavirus-enforced lockdown period.
