Spurs Premier League fixture with Aston Villa on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, has been postponed, the Premier League confirmed.

Jose Mourinho’s men will play Fulham at home following the number of players and staff of Villa having tested positive for coronavirus and are being placed in isolation by the club.

Villa’s first team could not honour their third-round FA Cup tie with Liverpool last Friday as they delegated their U-18 and 23 squads to engage Jurgen Klopp’s champions, a match they lost by 4-1 at the Villa Park.

The Premier League has no intentions of taking a break to avoid a repetition of last year’s distraction which has already brought many competitions behind schedules.

“Following Villa's request to rearrange the fixture, and due to the number of players and staff who have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have been placed in isolation by the club, the Premier League had no other option than to reschedule the match,” the Premier League said in a statement.

“With the health of players and staff the priority, the League continues to work with Villa on measures to ensure their League season resumes safely and at the earliest opportunity.

“The Premier League wishes those with COVID-19 a full and swift recovery and will rearrange Villa's match against Spurs as soon as possible,” it ended.

The schedule means Fulham’s home match against Chelsea on Friday, January 15 has been moved to Saturday, January 16.
