The Church of Pentecost have donated GH₵200,000 to support the building of the National Cathedral.

The National Cathedral is the vision of the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and involves close partnership between the State and the Ghanaian Christian Community for its development to build on the rich history of the Church’s involvement in National development, and reflects the social partnership envisaged to foster participatory development of the country as a collective goal.

The Launch of the National Cathedral and Fund Raising Campaign, took place on Thursday, January 30th 2020 at the Church of Pentecost, A.T Nartey Temple, Bantama Kumasi and the occasion was graced by the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Administratively, the Chief of Staff is the coordinator f the project at the presidency. A board of Trustees made up of the leading clergy across the major church denominations, is established to mobilize support including fundraising for the divine project.

Per the Church of Pentecost’s Vision 2023 navigated under the stewardship of the chairman, Aps. Eric Nyamekye to posess the Nation as Agents of Transformation, the subject of developmental projects as part of the Church's goal in making Ghana a better place to live could not be left out. The Church of Pentecost played its quota on as a corporate body to the nation to ensure that the Gospel is projected and lives transformed in the building.

Speaking at the gathering, Apostle Eric Nyamekye explained the magnitude of the church and its motive of establishment. He remedied that the initiative of constructing a National Cathedral is an act of launching a doorway for God’s presence to have a home in the country.

“Jesus died and resurrected out of the world for a perfect reason; He created a new community called the church,” Apostle Eric Nyamekye preached.

“These (the Church) are a group of people who believe in Jesus whether Jews or Gentiles regardless of who you are. The church of God is the most powerful factor on earth and there is no institution on the planet that can be compared to the church,” he said.

He continued that the president’s vision to build the Cathedral is to fulfil the directive of God to amend certain errors the generation is going through and to define the originality of God’s intent.

“God has begun a new order in Christ. He is no more looking at Israel but to the church. The Church is not a terminal, it is a channel. It is not an end in itself, it is a news to an end. So through the church the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to rulers and authorities in the Heavenly realms. Politicians have no knowledge of these forces.

“The nation is not just in isolation. It is governed with power and it takes only the church to fight such authority. The focus of the church is not on herself, it is a nation.

“We have pastors today displaying their monies and vehicles in the name of fashion. It’s never about that. The church should be a medium through which God will enter the nation. It’s very sad when churches are more into deliverance, selling oil and been too prophetic. The church in our generation is so weak that it is affecting our generation. The church is supposed to bring salvation to the nation,” he added.

The Cathedral, when completed will include 5000 seater auditorium, expandable to 15000; baptistery; chapels; conference center and Africa’s first Bible Museum and Documentation center. It will be a unifying monument around which to elevate shared conversations on the role of the Christian faith and values in nation building.
