Mikel Arteta says he was pleased with Arsenal’s performance against Bournemouth the Dean Court yesterday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang salvaged a point for Arsenal as they drew 1-1 at AFC Bournemouth in Mikel Arteta's first match as head coach.

Dan Gosling opened the scoring on 35 minutes, slotting past Bernd Leno from Jack Stacey's cutback for his second goal in three matches.

 

 

Arsenal had lots of chances and they found an equaliser just after the hour mark.

Aubameyang struck his 12th goal of the season from close range after Reiss Nelson's shot had ricocheted into his path.

According to the newly employed manager, who was also a former player of the Gunners, he is pleased with the teams feat and looks forward to propelling the commitment of the boys.

“As I said on many occasions, I am pleased with a lot of the things I have seen today,” he said. “In terms of the attitude and the commitment and the passion that the players played with.

“The effort they put in was terrific and I didn’t expect it to hold for 90 minutes. There are things to improve, obviously.

“But a lot of things I wanted in the game actually happened, probably more often than I was expecting to.”

The former Manchester City assistant coach revealed that his game plan is to get the Gunners into winning therefore it was demanding that the players believe and trust him.

 “Everything we are trying to do is convince them that, if we do things a certain way, it will be better for them.

 

 

“And they will enjoy more, their profession. And this can be things related on the pitch and off the pitch.

“Obviously the fact I know a lot of people in this organization is very, very helpful and they have been superb towards me.

“And I am getting a really good feel about the club and everybody that is involved actually now.”

Arsenal stay in 11th, on 24 points, four clear of AFC Bournemouth in 16th.
