Lilwin has stated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's investment into the movie industry could not have come at a better time.

The president had, on Wednesday, 29th of April, 2021, officially launched a USD25 million Presidential Film Pitch Series.

This pitch series, which is to be undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and coordinated by the National Film Authority, is now set to boost the movie scene exponentially.

President Akufo-Addo also mentioned that a 45 million Euros facility would be made available for the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), the oldest film and television training school in West Africa.

Lilwin has applauded the President's direct show of concern in the movie industry scene.

While speaking in an interview with GNA Entertainment, he stated that the investments are the only pieces of the puzzle needed to revitalise the industry.

“The investment has come at the right time where all film stakeholders are striving hard to revamp the industry.

“I urge all stakeholders who are going to be in charge of the project not to be selective in their dealings so as not to jeopardize the President's dreams of making the industry vibrant and competitive.

“We all have to come together and support this move because movies contribute to the happiness of the people as well promoting our arts and culture,’’ He enthused.

The Presidential Film Pitch series s expected to lead to the production of some 200 films and generate over 40,000 jobs annually. Twenty-five entries out of 100 documentaries, feature films, short films, series, games, and film infrastructure have been shortlisted for the pitch.
