Hundreds of traditional faith believers have gathered at Afetorku Gbodzi shrine in Dagbamate, a farming community in the Akatsi South District of the Volta region to celebrate their annual festival.

The believers from all walks of the region and beyond including some neighbouring countries, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso have converged in the community to participate in the festival.

According to the Chief Priest of the Shrine, Mr Moses Davor, the believers have come with different problems such as sickness, poverty, barrenness, failure and among other problems to seek solutions, others are also to renew and make vows to the smaller god, Afetorku Gbodzi.

He said, the gods of Dagbamate do not kill, support abortion, fornication, stealing among other odd behaviours, rather it gives a lasting solution to problems and also give riches and protection when one believes in it.

Mr Moses Davor, who was the former Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) admonished the public to desist from criticizing one’s beliefs, especially those who see the traditional faith as an evil practice because it is a right for any individual to join any group of his or her choice.

The festival is celebrated each year on Easter Sunday.

The believers come with animals to make sacrifices and also to renew their faith in the gods.
