Chelsea have taken over the top spot after a late Batsuayi’s goal at the Amsterdam Arena.

Frank Lampard’s side picked their second victory with Tomori and Kepa sharing a huge embrace with beaming smiles. It was also Chelsea’s third clean sheet of the season.

The home side begun the game on a higher note and attacked the Blues for the first goal within the early minutes of the game. Van de Beek launched the action for Ajax, who attacked from left to right. Kovačić harried the home side and earned an early corner. It was an early chance to create for the youngster who made his first UEFA Champions League start. He sent it deep, and Ajax keeper Onana, who had not conceded a goal for six hours in the competition, punched clear.

Tomori missed the target in the 5-minute; a response to Ajax early chance. A free header spiraled away to the opposite flank, where Willian attempted a second cross before Ajax cleared it out. It was a blistering start from both sides who exchanged play and trended cautiously defensively.

Tammy Abraham put himself about in the early stages. He probably had the physical edge over the two Ajax centre-backs, but they had more experience to break the Chelsea forward.

The blues were particularly dangerous down the Ajax right where most of their chances originated. Their movement and pace caused problems for Ajax, as Mount effort on ball showed just how dangerous his side were.

Shaky Chelsea defending built up to a Ziyech’s chance in the 22-minute. Zouma and Tomori hacked at a clearance outside their own penalty area, then Abraham lost the ball just inside the Ajax half. The hosts played a pass into the path of Ziyech towards the danger zone on the right, but his effort went wild.

Promes scored the opener in the 35-minute but VAR’s review ruled it as offside. Ziyech took a throw down the right and found Tadić near the penalty area, who returned the pass. The ensuing cross was expertly swung towards Promes at the far post, who tapped in but was adjudged to have been offside.

Chelsea disrupted Ajax's usual rhythm early and determined to dispel the characteristic fluency of the Group H leaders.

Ajax were denied by the slenderest of margins in the 62-minute. Álvarez's header was a couple of centimeters too wide, and clipped the outside of Kepa's right-hand post.

Willian made way for Christian Pulisic in the 66 as Hudson-Odoi was switched over to the right-hand side.

There was no tenth goal in all competitions for the Tammy Abraham although he worked hard, as ever, leading the line for Batsuayi to take over the rest of the proceedings.

Pulisic made an immediate impact eight minutes later winning the greatest chance in the game.

The American caught inside from the left and fired in a low shot from outside the penalty area that deflected kindly into the path of the striker beyond the Ajax line and in front of goal. He lashed his strike over the bar.

The two substitutes, Pulisic provided an assist for Batsuayi to score the opener for Chelsea in the 86-minute.

The American embarked on another dangerous run down the right, he took on Dest and beat him with a step over and low cross. He caught back deep inside the Ajax penalty area as Alonso stepped over the centre, rolling to the Belgium striker, who fired into the net via the woodwork.

The Belgian almost scored the second. He had plenty of space just outside the penalty area and curled in a low shot that Onana palmed beyond his post.

The game ended in favor of the Blues as they picked their second victory in Group H.
