The Ashanti Regional spokesman for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Mr. Rasmod Baidoo has assured that the Electricity Company of Ghana will make sure to restore power to affected areas following Wednesday’s heavy rain outpour.

Parts of the Ashanti Region after heavy downpour experienced power outage on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Limbs contact with power lines during the high winds caused interruptions as electricity poles breakage in many areas across the region were reported.

Speaking on Kwame Tanko’s Angel in the Morning Show, Mr. Rasmod Baidoo confirmed that the ECG has received numerous reports and guaranteed residents that the electrical crises will be solved by the close of Thursday, March 5, 2020.

He explained that the challenge occurred late on Wednesday evening when majority of workers had closed and as a matter of fact, they would not have been able to work in the heavy rains to resolve the challenge.

“It’s the first rainfall within the year and I was not surprise at the Blackout it caused. The rains started at 5pm where majority of the workers have closed from work. It ceased at 8pm and the heavy winds would have prevented us from working. We had to wait until morning to start servicing affected areas.

Kumasi is the city of focus due to its right to host the Independence Day celebration on Friday, March 6, 2020. With world dignitaries visiting the Ashanti Region to experience the 63rd year of Ghana’s Freedom, the ECG spokesperson deem it a great privilege to put things in order to make the program a successful one.

“The Independence Day is here and we cannot let the president and officials down. We are asking all Ghanaians to be rest assured as we work to restore power today,” he added.
