Former Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Mr Frederick Fredua Antoh popularly called FF Antoh has said his party lost the Asawase Member of Parliament seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to their weaker candidate.

Speaking on Opemso Radio in Kumasi monitored by Soireenews reporter, Joseph Marfo, the former chairman who doubles as Second National Vice-Chair for New Patriotic Party (NPP) said: "We never had a strong candidate in Asawasi that is why we lost the seat to NDC".

FF Antoh stated that Alhaji Alidu Seidu who contested the Asawase seat on behalf of NPP in the just ended 2020 Elections was too weak to contest Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak of the NDC.

In the 2016 general elections, Alhaji Alidu Seidu of NPP came very close to Muntaka, a difference of just (5,605 votes). Thus 33,490 (45.89%) for Alidu and Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak of NDC had a total vote of 39,095 (53.57%).

However, in 2020 general elections, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak of NDC extended the gap to (30394) with 61,659 (66.36% whilst Alhaji Alidu Seidu of NPP accumulated 31,256 (33.64%).

In relation to the aforementioned statistics, Mr FF Anto believes Alidu's performance was so abysmal and will not sympathize him because he doesn't understand why Alidu did not win the seat but sat aloof for Muntaka to extend the gap with such a huge margin.

"From a difference of 6,000 in 2016 to 30,000 in 2020, I will not sympathize with you" the 2nd  NPP Chairman stated on Opemso Radio Morning Show today.
