We Never Used Land-guards to claim what didn't belong to us - Weija Stool declares
Principal and accredited elders of Weija Divisional Area

Principal and accredited elders of Weija Divisional Area under the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area in the Greater Accra Region, have dispelled the widespread allegations levelled against them by the elders of Ngleshie Amanfrom that the former used thugs and land-guards with bruce force to illegally take their ancestors lands from them.

According to them, they are law-abiding citizens who believe in the law of this country and would be the last persons to use land-guards or thugs to fight the people of Ngleshie Amanfrom to claim the lands which did not belong to their ancestors or grandfathers.

They stressed that it is wise to resort to the legal means to fight their land dispute cases than to engage the services of the land-guards to claim their landed properties for them.

The Principal Kingmaker (Gyasetse) of Weija Divisional Area who doubles as the President of the Weija Divisional Council, Nii Boafo Adenyina Nse was reacting to the false allegations being made against Weija Divisional Stool of Ga State by the people of Ngleshie Amanfrom.

Nii Boafo's reaction comes to light after the Chief of Amanfrom, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV accused the elders of Weija Stool in a section of the media of using notorious land-guards to visit mayhem on the innocent land developers who bought lands from the elders of Amanfrom.

Addressing a press conference at Weija on Wednesday, January 19, 2021, Nii Boafo emphasized that there are no land-guard activities in any of the town and village, under his jurisdiction as being claimed by the elders of Ngleshie Amanfrom.

He explained their lands are free from the land-guards intimation and harassment and called on Ghanaians to disregard the claims by the people of Ngleshie Amanfrom.

According to him, Weija is the senior-most quarters under Ngleshie Alata  Traditional Council of James Town in Accra, where Amanfrom community once lived before migrating to their present place of abode.

"So we want to state that it is not right for people who once lived at Weija and moved to Ngleshie Amanfrom to turn around and claim the Weija’s lands at Asabaha, Ashankpokuashie, Domeabra and numerous villages belonging to Weija as theirs,' he clarified.

Nii Boafo pointed out that all that has been happening between Weija and Ngleshie Amanfrom leads to a land dispute, which is pending before Accra High Court noting that almost all the towns that the elders of Ngleshie Amanfrom are claiming ownership came out of Weija.

He added that Ngleshie Amanfrom itself also came from Weija so it is wrong for them to fight with their forefathers today.

Nii Boafo stressed that the Weija people will not sit down for their ancestor's properties to be forcefully taken away from them by the elders of Amanfrom.

He supported his point with Akan proverb which states that the owner of a property doesn’t take it with a left hand.

The acting chief noted that both Weija and Amanfrom are under the umbrella jurisdiction of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in Jamestown in Accra and now that their Paramount Chief is no more, Amanfrom has to recognize that Weija is their senior and therefore accord them respect.

He said the elders of Amanfrom are behaving as some known traditional and divisional areas which are greedy and seek to struggle for almost all towns and villages as their own, whiles in truth that is not the case.

"We want to state that the Amanfrom is depending on to claim Weija lands is a mere declaration document, which if not challenged within 21 days, it turns to be authentic document, adding that the document covering Amanfrom’s acclaimed 48 villages is an alleged fraudulent paper which does have any legal backing and traditional values.

"Our their case is simple and that almost all the towns and areas that Amanfrom is claiming belong to the people of Weija.

"Its rather the elders of Amanfrom using land guards to torment settlers and they must be stopped by security agencies," he stressed.

The acting chief pointed out that it’s wrong for Amanfrom chiefs to install 200 sub-chiefs and even wrongly hold the area as a Paramountcy, whiles it is rather a divisional area, adding that the action is contempt.

Nii Boafo was optimistic that the Accra High Court will come out to put the record straight for justice and peace to prevail.

On his part, the Weija Ashanpkokushie Asafoatse, Nii Aninda I, noted they have authentic documents covering all their lands as the bonified property of Weija.

He said they have been leaving there for the past five years and have the document to the lease of the land to leaseholders revealing that just a few years ago some sub-chiefs came from Amanfrom to claim the land in question, hence the court case which is expected to be decided soon.

For his part, the Mankrado of Weija– AshankpoKushie, Nii Ashaley I, noted that it’s not true that the lands in question are for Amanfrom but Weija rather.

The queen mother of Weija Ashankpokushie, Naa Dede Ama Kumah I stressed that they do not have land guards in their town as being alleged by their distractors.

She told that land guards from their opponents usually pounced on them, beat, harm them and fire gun warning shots into the air to scare them.

The queen mother added that Weija Asafoatse, Nii Panpanku should be left alone by Amanfrom people because he is not a land guard as they claimed.

However, in a quick rebuttal, the chiefs and the people of Ngleshie Amanfrom had maintained that they have documents covering all their lands and for that matter, they are bold to state the said lands belong to them.
